Jamian Juliano-Villani’s paintings layer imagery sourced from popular culture, art history, and esoterica in a characteristic vivid and flattened pictorial style. My little corner of Stowe, Vermont exemplifies several motifs that appear throughout her work, incorporating found imagery in an amalgamation of highly graphic scenes ansd characters, which together form a surreal moment in time.

Jamian Juliano-Villani (b. 1987 in Newark, NJ) lives and works in New York. Recent exhibitions include Detroit Affinities: Jamian Juliano-Villani at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Detroit (2015); Living Apart Together: Recent Acquisitions from the Hammer Contemporary Collection at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2017); Flatlands at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2016); and Greater New York at MoMA PS1, Long Island City (2015).
