RIDE WITH THE RED SHOE DELIVERY SERVICE to the SWISS INSTITUTE - CONTEMPORARY ART!

RED SHOE DELIVERY SERVICE a project by MK Guth and friends is an interdisciplinary project reconfiguring the idea of Dorothy's Ruby Slippers in order to create an interactive art experience while providing people with a practical service.

The RSDS project offers people rides to their desired destination. In exchange riders are asked to don a pair of red glittery shoes, click their heels, and say THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE the location they wish to go. RSDS then delivers them there. Video, photographs and audio files are collected before, during and after the ride. In the RSDS video participants click their heels and in a spiral of red glitter they are magically transported to where they what to go.

RSDS' desire is to involve as many people as possible in an art experience and in the processes of making art. When a person chooses to ride with RSDS they participate in an art project while influencing its development. What results is a work of artthat directly reflects the collaboration between the artist and the participants of RSDS.

MK Guth is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, photography and sculpture. Her work infects the everyday with mythic language. In an 2003 Art News article reviewer Barbara Pollack described Guth's Video " I Want to Hold Your Hand" as "Brilliant." RED SHOE DELIVERY SERVICE will be traveling the streets of NYC this summer and will be part of PICA's (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art) Time Based Festival in September.
