Lives in New York
Tony Matelli's impudent sculptural tableaux are a form of social
critique cloaked in high-art pranksterism. Cast in resin and
covered in plaster and paint, these dioramas are real enough
but do not aim to fool.
Matelli's works are allegorical depictions of people and things
finding - or failing to find - means of survival in a world
that does its very best to thwart alternatives to the norm.
